Setting up the code tables
There are many code tables in RefTracker – some used by the system, and some used in Request forms. You will need to review all of the enabled code tables, and eventually, determine if you need more code tables enabled (more about that later).
We will now examine how to set up code tables to meet your specific requirements and with then look at all the code tables that are issued as enables in your system so that you can decide whether you want to use them, what name you want to use, and that its values are those you want to use in your library – in general this usually means the values for which you want to obtain statistics in your library.
You may not be able to tell whether you will be using a particular code table in your system until you have designed the Request forms – this means that during this section of the training it is OK to delay setup of some code tables until after you have done the Request forms section. Even then many code tables may not be set up until they are found to be needed at some later time when a new Request form is designed.
We will now look at the fundamentals of editing code tables and then review the use of each code table and set each of the tables that can be changed. Don’t forget that code table values can be changed at any time, so use this document to set initial values that will form a good basis for a start only. If experience proves that changes are required, you can make the changes as they are needed at any later time.
