Template editor (print)
The Template editor (print) function accessible from the System>Utilities>Administration utilities menu provides an inbuilt way to edit RefTracker print templates, plus functionality to download templates so they can be edited externally and then uploaded, should you prefer to do it that way.
The Print Template editor screen is used in exactly the same way as described above for the Email template editor screen.
All of the master RefTracker print templates appear in the Master panel of this Print template editing screen so that you can copy them, and edit them when appropriate.
Note that the Print templates are designed to bring up a printing options box on display, and this printing options box will come up when you try to edit a Qprint template – just Close the printing options box or Cancel it before making your changes.
In this screen, the form displays in HTML mode because Print templates include RefTracker programming – be sure to take everything from $rve$ to $rvb$, inclusive, if it is necessary to when remove an optional variable.
If you include a variable in a Qprint template, the entire text of that variable will be included in the print (the [more] function is not applied in Qprints).
RefTracker print templates must be changed using valid HTML statements in HTML mode, however a Design mode edit option is provided for the Qprint template editor that will correctly make HTML changes for a variety of formatting. To change to Design mode, click the Design button under the editing area. Each Design mode header button displays a tool tip describing its function if you place your mouse over the button (e.g. Spell checker, Numbered list, Bullet list, etc.). In Design mode you select the text that you want the function to apply to then click the appropriate button. In Design mode you can easily insert images and colours in your templates, as required to provide the professional print result that you may require. Click here for more information about using this HTML editor.

Don’t forget that when you create a new print template, you have to tell RefTracker how to include it in the Qprint function. To do that you need to go to the Print templates code table and associate your new template with an appropriate name. To facilitate this additional step, a link to the print template code table is provided in the

text at the top of the screen, and at the top right of the screen. When this link is used the code table opens in a separate window so you can work in both screens at the same time.
