Direct access to the KB search results page

To insert a link in your web pages to the results screen for a KB search, use the following URL.

http://<yourRefTrackerDomain>/reft296.aspx?stp=5&stx=<Searchterm>

where Searchterm is the text that you want the search results for.

When the resulting information is displayed to the client, the URL they see will show a message table entry key as the parameter so that the URL parameters used are hidden from the end user, such as

http:// <yourRefTrackerDomain>/reft296.aspx?mi=7X9Er79ugEGsFU4g2CWymw

Exercise:

In the address line of your browser enter an appropriate direct URL using the instructions from one of the last few sections, and substituting values for location key and form key as found in the location code table and Request form maintenance screens respectively – don’t forget to substitute your system’s servername and reftracker web name.

For example, try entering a URL based on – the URL for inserting a link to a request form

http://<yourRefTrackerDomain>/reft100.aspx?key=<formkey>&cllcid=<clientLocationKey>

You can use this form to submit a question then use Review details to validate that the request type and location have been correctly saved, as you expected.

Note that by inserting the URL in the browser address line you are simply testing what that URL will do when it is inserted as a hyperlink in appropriate places in your web pages.
