Making Ask-a-Librarian easily accessible

Inserting RefTracker into your web pages for the use of clients can be as simple as inserting a hyperlink to the RefTracker client interface (default http:// <yourRefTrackerDomain>).
However we recommend that you make client access available wherever a client is likely to ask a question – some libraries achieve this by inserting a service logo and hyperlink into the header of their library web pages, so it appears on ALL library pages.
The screen print on above shows a good example of a persistent Ask! Logo at the top right of every page that brings up a library defined subwindow providing information about ALL of the different ways that a client can ask a question of this library.
In this case the RefTracker welcome page URL has been linked behind the “Ask! By email” button – when you click on the “ask by email!” button, you will be presented with the Welcome page, but the link could go directly to a specific RefTracker Request form. Where it goes to, depends on the particular RefTracker URL that you link at that point. More about particular RefTracker URL’s in the upcoming sections!
In addition to making RefTracker accessible from every screen in this way, you should replace all links in your web pages where you invite your clients to contact the library, with RefTracker Request form URL’s so that all requests are managed and counted through RefTracker.
