Request forms and the client interface

Request forms are used in the client interface, and directly in your web pages using their specific URL (for example, you can insert access to the New Book request form directly into your web page describing new acquisitions, by inserting that form’s URL – which can be found in the Preview mode of Request form design).

From Ask a new question in the full client interface, a list of available Request forms is displayed if you have more than one Request form enabled for client interface use. The Request forms displayed in that screen are all designed using the Request forms section of the RefTracker system functions, and their appearance on this screen is controlled by the Location limitation setting, and the Client availability settings, for each of these Request forms (found in Edit options mode of the request form design).

When you click on a form name (defined by the Description column in the Request forms summary screen), the form is displayed in the same browser window.

The screen print above depicts both the Summary of available Request forms in the client interface, and overlaid over that the form that is brought up in the Client interface when you click on “New book request” in that list. The URL that can be used to directly bring up a form anywhere in your web pages is displayed at the top of the Request form design Preview mode screen (simply cut and paste it for easy insertion).

Request forms also control the forms that are displayed when you click on Comments and Suggestions, or you use the Lost question function in the client interface.

Automatically collected information

When a client completes a RefTracker client interface form, the system can automatically collect the following information about the client, as this information can help with resolving the issue being reported (such as a problem with accessing an online database):
BrowserUserAgent, IP address, and Referring URL (if the form was accessed via a link in a web page outside of the RefTracker client interface).
