Request forms – Details screens introduction

From the Request forms summary screen, clicking any of the links [Options] [Layout] [Preview] on the line for the Request form that you want to edit will take you to the selected Request forms details screen. The Request forms details screens are where the layout and operation of each form is defined or changed.

The Request forms details screens work in a number of modes. Whenever you are defining a new form you must use each of the Edit layout, Edit defaults and Edit options modes of this screen, in order to create a Request form that does all the things that you want. Edit layout, Edit defaults, and Edit options can be used in any order, but you must check each one of these screens.

At the very top of the Request form details screen are the options for changing the form and mode (see them highlighted in the screen print in the next “Preview mode” section):

Request form: This shows the name of the form currently being edited. To edit a different form, select it from the drop down list, and the screen will redisplay showing the same mode for the newly selected form.

Mode: the modes operate as follows:

  • Display: shows the fields and text definitions used in the form without the ability to make any changes
  • Preview: shows what the form will look like in the client interface, and shows the URL that can be used to display it in your web pages.
  • Edit options: provides for definition of the parameters that control how questions entered using this form will be processed on arrival and the options provided on closing.
  • Edit defaults: allows the default values and text associated with fields included in the form to be defined.
  • Edit lookups: only appears if your organisation is licensed for the RefTracker Dynamic Lookups module. It allows the lookups that will happen while a form is in use to be defined (autocomplete and dynamic population). Details of how to use this mode are provided in the separate Dynamic Lookups Module Setup and Usage Manual.
  • Edit layout: allows the text and fields that will be displayed in the form to be defined. Supervisors can only see this screen in Display and Preview modes as these modes do not allow changes.
