Standards compliance

RefTracker is designed to W3C standards for maximum compatibility with a variety of browsers and other user-agents, including responsive web design for mobile devices. It has been developed using object oriented techniques that make maintenance easier.

The client interface applies the WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines to maximize accessibility to all patrons including users of very old browsers and users of accessibility devices. Use of JavaScript is optional and the client interface is GDPR compliant.

Neither the client or staff interfaces require any special clients or browser plug-ins, which means that they can be used on all browsers complying with these standards.  The following browsers are fully supported and tested for new releases of RefTracker: Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari

Altarama has long been committed to compliance with library and IT standards, including participation in the  development of the NISO NetRef standard, leading to the development of the RefTracker to RefTracker and RefTracker to Relais request transfer processes.

Output standards such as XML, MARC and EAD (Encoded Archival Description) are also supported for data import/export.

Transfer of Bibliographic data from OpenURL compliant products into RefTracker forms is also supported.

RefTracker also provides a documented API and web services for integration with other applications.
