Using New forms in a separate window

You can use the New forms in a separate window simply by clicking on the window icon to the right of their name.
To move from the separate window back to the main window, click on the return arrow in the top right of the separate window.
To move back to the separate window, in your Start bar, find the window named “R.<RequestFormName> where <RequestFormName> is the name of the Request form you are using in that window.
Note that if you click on the New or KBnew separate window icon again it will open another (i.e. a second) separate window in which you can enter the details of a second question.
When used in a separate window the functionality of these screens is identical to that provided when they are used in the main window except for the following – because only a single screen (not a series of screens) can be used in a separate window:
- In the main window Allocation method “I’ll respond now” takes you directly to the Answer screen so you can work on the question. In the separate window, “Allocate to me” replaces it and simply allocates the question to you – when you click on Submit the separate window will close id “Stay on this page” is unticked, or redisplay with the same form ready for another question to be entered, if “Stay on this page” is ticked.
- In the main window, when a staff member has permission to put questions in the KB, and in the KB status line they choose “Recommend KB inclusion” which marks the question with KB review status, after clicking on Submit the KB review screen will display immediately so that the question can be put into the KB. In a separate window, when a staff member chooses “Recommend KB inclusion” in the KB status line, after clicking on Submit the question will be indicated as in KB review status and the separate window will close. Because the question is marked for KB review it can be placed in the KB at any future time by any staff member, but if a staff member who has permission to put questions in the KB wants to do it immediately they simply find the question using Search, then click on Answer – because the question is already in KB review status, the KB review screen will be brought up and the question can be added to the KB.
