Answers

The Answers screen opens in a separate window and shows answers from the RefTracker database. Enter search terms to find previous work that might be relevant to the response you are currently working on. It opens in a separate window so you can use it at any time to find, and copy, previously provided answers for reuse in the question you are currently working on.
Answers is accessible from the Search menu list, and from the Answers tab when searching in QuickText.
In your My preferences, Search preferences tab, the “Answers database” option sets your preference as to whether this screen should default to just searching information in the KB or FAQ, or whether it should search all answers in RefTracker, by default. Tick all options for “Answers database” if you want Answers to search ALL answers in your system, or just KB and or FAQ if you want it to search just those sub set/s.
If you tick all options here, the Answers screen provides an easy way to see all closed questions in your system.

The search boxes in the Answers screen work just like the Simple and Open questions screens.
Enter your search term and click the “Search” button. You can also change any of the other parameters for a more refined search.
By default results are displayed in Date closed order. To have the results display in relevancy order, click the “Request text” column heading.
You can copy and paste information from the results of your search in this sub window, to the question you are working on.
A handy hint is to use the “Paste as plain text button” whenever you are copying in text from an HTML source like RefTracker (or any other web page), as that will prevent any unwanted formatting from being carried over.
To reuse an attachment from a previously provided answer, right click it and use the “Copy link” function to paste a link to it in the question you are currently working on.
To change the sort order in this screen, just click the appropriate column heading, for example, click the Description column heading to sort by the relevancy of your search term.
Use the [Close] link or Browser X in top right corner of the sub window, to close this sub window when you are finished with it.
