Send.firefox.com secure large file transfer
There are lots of ways to do very large file transfer but most are not straight forward to use when responding to a user’s request through RefTracker. Without intending to recommend any particular way, here is an example of one product that is not only easy to use, but covers copyright and privacy protections, is free, and is able to be used by anyone no matter what browser they use.
Making very large files available for download with send.firefox.com
Here is an example of how to use https://send.firefox.com with RefTracker. In this example I am providing an answer in RefTracker and realise that the file I need to send is way too large to send by email.
I insert some text explaining that I am sending a link to the file instead. Here’s an example of something you could set up as QuickText that explains that its a once only secure link.

I insert the name of the file that I am sending, into that answer text (so that RefTracker has a record of the file name that was provided).
Then, in my browser (any browser) I go to https://send.firefox.com. Here I am using Edge:

Drag and drop the very large file, or select it, using the send.firefox.com screen options. Notice that I did not have to log in to do this. However with a Firefox login, not only can I send a file up to 2.5GB in size, rather than the normal 1Gb limit, but I can choose to have the file kept for 7 days which is a big advantage.

Notice that you can set how long before the file expires or how many downloads before it expires. If you are logged in be sure to change the day limit to 7 days to give your end user time to see your response and obtain the download. You can even apply a password to the file, should you want to do that.
These provisions along with send.firefox.com’s encryption of the file as it is transferred and stored, ensure that it is totally secure and will not hang around in the cloud for longer than needed.
Click “Upload”.
The file uploads and you are shown a confirmation page with the link that can be used to download the file.

Click “Copy link” and paste the link into your RefTracker response.

When the client receives the RefTracker email with your response, they just click the link for downloading.

The link will bring up a send.firefox.com screen and (no matter what browser the end user has) all they have to do is click “Download” and then open the download when it shows as downloaded (it can take a while as the file will be VERY LARGE!).

If the link has expired, or the end user has already downloaded the file, they will see a send.firefox.com page that says “This link has expired”.
Easy!!
